The Thieblots, co-owners of the Quarry Gardens, will lead this tour. In the Visitor Center, Armand will introduce the QGs project and the history of soapstone mining. Bernice will lead a walk along the main trail around the quarries.
Among the plant communities ending the season, look for Upland ironweed, Milkweeds, Maryland golden aster, Boneset, Flowering spurge, New England aster, Goldenrods, Woolgrass, Joe Pye weed, Partridge pea, four species of Mountainmint, and many others. Leaves of cranefly orchid, pushing up through the wood chip paths and fallen leaves, will be much in evidence.
Bring a picnic and enjoy it in the pavilion.
